What is Carbon Makeover?
more +Founded in 2007, Carbon Makeover helps local people find local answers to tackling the global problem of climate change. It is now deeply embedded within a community in South Bristol called Knowle West. Local people love it, and it has motivated many of them to pledge to reduce their environmental impacts. Carbon Makeover has also helped people to grow in confidence, groups to form and whole communities to adopt many positive behaviours, to such an extent that we are now sharing Carbon Makeover nationally.
Changing behaviours within some communities is no easy task, but we’ve been there and got the products to share. These products have already inspired people to make changes to their environmental, social and economic conditions.
Many grassroots organisations, local authorities, housing associations, universities and even the EU Commission have invited us to speak on how Carbon Makeover has developed the potential of people, and we're happy to share our insights with you too.
We know that finding pots of money to start new projects isn’t always possible or viable and that maybe you just want to ‘add value’ to your existing work.
Carbon Makeover has run many activities and workshops spanning energy, health, nature, food, travel, waste and digital media. The one thing that all of these activities and workshops have in common is that the participants left having been engaged.
